WHAT WE SHOULD MINIMALLY EXPECT:
-Legislation to insure that all “non-federal” tribes who have previously attended federal Indian boarding schools have equal admittance standing to Haskell Indian Nations University as all federally recognized tribes currently do.
-Legislation to insure that all tribes who have previously attended federal Indian boarding schools are placed on the federal register.
-A plaque or other marker located on the Haskell campus commemorating the histories of “non-federal” tribes at this historic institution.
-A formal letter of apology from the Bureau of Indian Affairs/Bureau of Indian Education for the contemporary marginalization of generationally attending “non-federal” tribes from their own alma maters.
